Bengaline Fabric

Bengaline is a sturdy textile made from a mix of materials. It is woven in a crosswise rib and may contain synthetic and natural materials. Bengaline was originally made from silk and cotton in Bengal, India.

Why bengaline?

Bengaline is a sturdy, multifunctional fabric. It is wrinkle-resistant due to the combination of usually viscose, polyamide and elastane. Bengaline generally stretches in length.

It resembles firm cotton but has extra qualities such as elasticity and flexibility due to the stretch. This makes bengaline ideal for straight or form-fitting dresses and skirts, jackets or trousers. On the other hand, the stiffness can be used to create volume for a wide skirt or cocktail dress.
